Nowadays, there are various suitable ways to depict simulated 3D flow profiles. Data can be displayed starting from purely desktop-based visualization methods up to large video walls and fully immersive virtual reality (VR) systems. Compared to stationary systems, projecting computer-generated data onto the underlying real world in the scope of Augmented Reality (AR) is a cost-effective but nonetheless immersive presentation-option.

The aim of the project is to develop a visualization system, building up on preparatory work that allows users to objectively assess air flow profiles indoors. Here, fast data processing on the basis of high and ultra-high performance computer systems allows to handle the huge amount of data in reasonable periods of time. An intuitive visualization method based on the principles of AR allows the user to visualize results in an individually customizable context. Thanks to the human-centered approach, users are able to interact with the scenery in the real world while it is virtually superposed with information that is constantly updated by the computer system. Afterwards, it is possible to add a virtual people or objects to real-life scenes.
