In order to achieve the climate goals of the German government, forward-looking technologies are needed that enable energy and CO2 savings in building practice. A decisive factor for the success of the climate transition is the implementation of resource-saving innovations that are technically, ecologically and economically worthwhile and are equally accepted by all stakeholders - planners, building owners, companies in the construction industry, users and operators.

The research project "ReFaTEk" serves to research resource-saving façade technologies for the use of solar energy to supply buildings with energy. The project goal is to accelerate the practical introduction of energy-clinker technology and to derive findings for other façade systems to reduce CO2 emissions. Within the framework of the research project, a novel clinker technology will be implemented for the first time in real building projects (demonstrators) and scientifically monitored. The technological feasibility and economic efficiency of the innovative clinker wall will be comprehensively investigated under laboratory conditions, through dynamic simulations and in field tests. Based on this, conclusions on the development and connectivity of further façade systems and trend-setting product groups for various plants and energy systems for heat storage, energy generation and cooling will be drawn. This will provide a wide range of benefits for various industry branches, such as solid construction, building and systems engineering and other façade technologies. Special attention will be paid to the integration into standard heat pump systems, which represent an essential technological driver of the energy transition.
