BIM2Praxis – Integration of methods for the creation of simulation models based on Building Information Modeling in practice; Subproject: Further development and adaptation of the methods to real project examples.
Dynamic building simulation is steadily gaining importance in predicting the energy consumption of buildings and is increasingly used in planning for efficient buildings. The Energieeinsparverordnung (EnEV) and the Gebäudeenergiegesetz (GEG), for example, allow simulative methods as verification. One challenge of these methods is the higher effort. In the BIM2SIM project, methods were developed to make the models from Building Information Modeling (BIM) usable for the creation of simulations. BIM2SIM has shown that BIM models with appropriate quality are excellently suited for the creation and parameterization of simulation models, but that the models in current planning processes do not meet these quality requirements. In the BIM2Praxis project, the results and findings from BIM2SIM are to be transferred into practice. For this purpose, a real construction project is to serve as a basis, which is to be revised with the new methods. These new methods are to be adapted and extended to the real planning process. The knowledge gained from the real project will then be used to develop recommendations for action that can actively support future planning processes. With the involvement of companies from the technical building equipment sector (HVAC) - including planners, manufacturers and software developers - the foundations for better BIM model quality in the HVAC sector are to be created. The project is intended to create a model to further increase model quality in the BIM process and to transfer the application of energetic building simulation and comfort investigations from research to practice. The main focus of the RWTH is the further development and adaptation of the methods developed in BIM2SIM to real project examples. Innovations here are the investigation of thermal comfort, dynamic CO simulation and control descriptions in BIM.
