The advancing automatization and digitalisation put a fundamental paradigm shift on the construction business along the entire value chain of constructing and operating buildings. Changes in the supply chain, intelligent asset-management and machinal learning are important future trends, that especially affect the field of building and fastening technology. The BIM Center Aachen addresses the digitalisation in the construction sector from the point of view of producers and executing companies with the aim of enabling the execution of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Here, the focus lies on the processes and intersections after the completion of the digital planning between manufacturing, preproduction, supply, assembling, construction work, logistics, implementing, documentation, maintenance, computer aided facility management (CAFM) and deconstruction. Next to research and development, the new center will support the qualification and certification in the field of BIM in the future. The BIM Center Aachen acts here as an intersectoral network of science and industry and puts its main focus in the initial phase on the building services.
