Cooperation, lecture and workshop on “Integral Design, Construction and Operation using building Information Modeling (BIM)”
Project duration:
01/2016 - 12/2016
Project funding:
Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder
Project partners:
- Institute of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Building (E3D), RWTH Aachen (applicant)
- Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate, RWTH Aachen
Description:
The internationally renowned scientist Professor Vladimir Bazjanac of the Stanford University (USA) will be visiting RWTH Aachen University for several research stays in 2016, in the scope of the Theodore von Kármán Fellowship. The objective is to establish cooperation in the interdisciplinary field of “Integral Design, Construction and Operation using Building Information Modeling (BIM)”. In the light of increasing digitalization and automation, Digital Building is to be seen as a global challenge for all parties involved in the value chain regarding the processes of planning and design (CAD), customization and production (CAM), as well as construction and operation (CAFM). [RK2] The cooperation, which is expected to bring about valuable interdisciplinary scientific impulses, is based on the elements of workshops, a RWTH-wide lecture on “Moving Building Information Modeling from Level 2 to Level 3” and a lecture on “Strategy and good practice to import a BIM model into building energy performance simulation” (including a discussion) for students of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology.
