EPA Neu-Ulm – ‘Effizienzhaus Plus im Altbau’ – plus energy standard for retroffited buildings: Realization of Energy Monitoring Concepts for two Residential Buildings in Neu-Ulm
Project duration:
Monitoring : 05/2016 - 11/2018
Funding ministry:
Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR), Forschungsinitiative Zukunft Bau, SWD - 10.08.81 - 13.01
Description:
The project focus lies on the development and implementation of energy monitoring concepts for two residential buildings in Neu-Ulm. The monitoring project involves concept development and planning as well as the evaluation of metrological data, buildings system performance data and user-specific measurement data over a limited period of two-years.
The retrofitted buildings are pilot projects (funded by the ‘Forschungsinitiative Zukunft Bau’) and have been retrofitted in accordance to EnEV 2009 (German Energy Saving Ordinance) to achieve plus energy standard and to meet the specific criteria for the ‘Effizienzhaus Plus’ standard.
The different building designs and winning concepts (University of Applied Sciences Ruhr-West / O5 Architects, Technical University of Darmstadt / Werner Sobek) were developed during an interdisciplinary planning competition with collaborating teams of professional architects, engineers and associated universities. The retrofitted buildings represent exemplary concepts and aim to achieve clima neutrality in the form of sustainable energy production on-site.
The actual monitoring set-up serves to rate the plus energy standard and is an appropriate quality management tool during the operating phase to evaluate the different building technologies, building designs and aspects of user acceptance.
